- I'd like to use this guestbook in my site. Is there a way to import the entries from my old guestbook (this guestbook is not FPG)?
Y...e...s! You'll need a Data Converter to import the old entries.
- If you are using Active Guestbook, you just have to rename the file guestbook_data.txt to guestbook.datei, install FPG 1.25 and then upgrade it to FPG 2.0.
- Users of Lars Ellingsen's Guestbook should download [GS-FPG-Converter] This program will automatically convert the old guestbook file to the FPG-Format. Install FPG 1.25 and then upgrade it to FPG 2.0
- Users of Puretec Standard Guestbook should use [puretec.cgi], install FPG 1.25 and then upgrade it to FPG 2.0
- Users of Achim Winklers guestbook needs [agb_2_fpg.cgi]. This is the converter for Achim's PHP guestbook. It works directly with FPG 2.0.
- Users of Ultimate Guestbook needs [ugb_2_fpg.cgi]. This is the converter for Ultimate Guestbook. It works directly with FPG 2.0.
- For users of PerlSoft.de guestbook: [psg_2_fpg.cgi]. This is the converter for PerlSoft.de guestbook. It works directly with FPG 2.0.
- How to change the layout of this guestbook?
FPG 2.0 uses templates so you can completely change its layout by editing the .tpl files in the
skins directory. An integration of FPG into an existing HTML page is possible.
There are some pre-made skins in the download area:
- I disabled some input fields on the sign-page. The fields are gone but there are some empty table rows. How to remove them?
To remove these empty rows, open the file sign.tpl in a text editor and remove the table rows which contain the fields.
- How to add new languages into the language bar?
Download/Make new language file (e.g: your_language.lang) and upload it to the languages directory.
- What must I do if I forget my password and cannot enter the Control Panel. Does FPG send me this password to my e-mail address?
Yes! You will get a new password sent to your e-mail address.
- I'm using an older version of FPG and I'd like to upgrade it. What to do?
It's very easy! Simply install FPG 2.0 in the same directory.
- Does the Dirty-Word-Filter works with phrases?
No! Because words are separated by spaces but a phrase contains spaces.
- I got the error message below and don't know what to do?
HTTP 500: Internal Server Error
The page cannot be displayed
There is a problem with the page you are trying to reach and it cannot be displayed
- Are you sure you uploaded the
guestbook.cgi file in ASCII mode? The cgi
file MUST be transferred in ASCII mode.
- Some servers require the "-w" switch at the first line. So change it from
#!/usr/bin/perl to
#!/usr/bin/perl -w
- Ask your server administrator to get more information about file access permission (755 or 775 or whatever else...)
- The guestbook is installed and it works fine but I don't get the new entries sent by e-mail. What's wrong?
- Activate the e-mail function in the Control Panel
- Check for the correct path to sendmail. Try sendmail with and without the "-t" switch.
- Try to use the SMTP method.
