Ba người đàn ông đứng trước cửa thiên đàng để chờ sự phán xét cuối cùng của Thánh Pierre. Thánh Pierre yêu cầu người đàn ông thứ nhất kể chi tiết và đúng sự thật về cái chết của ḿnh để quyết định ông có đáng được lên thiên đàng hay không. Người đàn ông thứ nhất kể rằng : - Có một lần tôi nghi ngờ ḿnh bị vợ cắm sừng và đột xuất về nhà. Tôi thấy cô ấy nằm trên giường không một mảnh vải che thân. Tôi đă lục soát căn hộ để truy t́m tên thủ phạm nhưng vẫn không t́m ra. Sau đó tôi nhớ rằng . . . Căn hộ chúng tôi nằm trên tầng 15 của khu chung cư và chúng tôi có một cái ban công nhỏ. Tôi nh́n thấy người đàn ông ấy đang lơ lửng trên không, hai tay bám vào lan can ban công. Tôi cố gắng lấy chân ḿnh hất tay hắn ra, nhưng hắn bám rất chặt ... Sau đó tôi đă đi t́m một cấy búa để gơ vào tay hắn. Hắn thả tay ra nhưng đă rơi xuống một lùm cây. Thấy hắn vẫn c̣n cử động, tôi đă bê cái tủ lạnh trong nhà bếp và ném xuống hắn. V́ quá gắng sức nên tôi đă bị chết do lên cơn tim. Thánh Piere có ve bị thu hút bởi câu chuyện và phán : - Thế à ? Vậy ông được vào thiên đàng. Đến lượt người đàn ông thứ 2 kể : - Tôi đang sơn lại ban công ở tầng 17 của chung cư. Bỗng nhiên chiếc ghế đẩu bị chao đảo và tôi bị rơi xuống lầu. Nhưng tôi may mắn bám được vào lan can ban công ở tầng 15. Tôi nghĩ rằng ḿnh đă thoát nạn thi chủ nhân ban công này lại giẫm chân lên tay tôi, rồi lấy búa đập ngón tay tôi. Và điều tồi tệ hơn là khi tôi thả tay ra và vẫn chưa chết, hắn đă bê cái tủ lạnh và ném xuống đầu tôi khiến tôi bị thiệt mạng. Thánh Pierre phán : - Tôi đă nghe câu chuyện này rồi, ông có thể vào thiên đàng . . Người đàn ông thứ 3 kể : - Thật ra tôi không hiểu chuyện ǵ đă xảy ra. Tôi đang trốn trong tủ lạnh ...
