Hi

I have taken over my sons football team website and wanted to put the Perl guestbook on for the boys as its fantastic!

However I get the following error when I hit the continue button from the first install.cgi page.

"Cannot create guestbook folder fpg_files! Permission denied at d:\websites\rans288207\www\install.cgi line 693."

I have tried to change the permissions on the files using SmartFTP but this does not recognise the command.

I have looged onto my server providers site and under Perl settings it says

"You can run most CGI scripts on our Windows servers but remember they will not work if the script is trying to use a Linux program, ie. Sendmail. When running scripts on our Windows servers, you do not need to specify a path to the Perl interpreter, the server will automatically recognise the filetype. Ensure that all CGI scripts are placed in your cgi-bin directory."

Ont thing is that the old site is still up and running, do I need to delete the old site first!

Otherwise I am stuck

I believe I am running on a windows server so should not need to change the files to 777 etc

All your help pleaaasseee however small

Thanks from the UK!

Malk

Please read the readme.txt and edit the fpg.cgi, install.cgi, asimg.cgi. On a windows server you should need to use absolute paths likes "C:\\Users\\Scripts\\". Ask your provider for the correct paths.

Hi, I have changed the scripts to:

my $dir = "d\websites\rans288207\www\cgi-bin\fpg_files";
my $fpg_public = "d\websites\rans288207\www\cgi-bin\fpg_public";
my $libdir = "d\websites\rans288207\www\cgi-bin\fpg_ascii";
my $bindir = "d\websites\rans288207\www\cgi-bin\fpg_binary";

and now I am coming up with the following error:

"Internal error! Please go to the FPG Homepage to get help!

» Folder not found: fpg_ascii"

The folder is there and downloaded in ASCII

Really sorry to be a pain but can you let me know where I am going wrong!

Thank you

Malk

I have the same problem i.e. Cannot create guestbook folder fpg_files! Permission denied at /freeola/users/weblinks/www.inverness-apartment.com/cgi-shl/install.cgi line 693.

I changed the absolute paths in the asimg.cgi, fpg.cgi and install.cgi files.

Full Server Path To CGI Directory:
This is based on my Freeola User Name (e.g. For 'sr0011223' the path is /freeola/users/3/2/sr0011223/cgi-shl/. For 'sr0024658' the path is /freeola/users/8/5/sr0024658/cgi-shl/.

So why am i still getting the error:
/freeola/users/weblinks/www.inverness-apartment.com/cgi-shl/install.cgi line 693.

My server provider (Freeola) help page is http://freeola.com/support/webspace_cgi.php

is there a way of manually creating the installer steps and whats the address for login afterwards.
